Plenty Of Fish Vs. OkCupid

Hey guys,

These days, dating sites has become a big thing because it's convenient. For me, I'm on Plenty of Fish and Okcupid. When I get into a relationship, I used to just delete my profiles but then when I got broken up with, I would have to go back and type everything up again. I've decided that when I get into new relationships I just put "Looking for Friends/Not Looking" depending on the option for that particular site. Since I'm a member of each site, I thought I would compare and contract the two and give my opinion on them. I am only a FREE member so I can't go into all of the things you are able to access if you pay for a membership. DISCLAIMER- These are my OWN opinions (also, this review is based off of the apps not the websites but they are pretty much the same).

Plenty of Fish:

1.  Messages are of course your messages with other people. If you want to know if they read your message before they respond, then you have to upgrade.
2. There's an option called "Will Respond" and those are the members that will most likely to respond to you. When you click on that, you will also see "Top Prospects" and those are the members who POF think you will like I suppose.
3. You can also search (you can have POF access to your device location, which I don't just because) and you can add anything you want to look for in another person like: their age range, education, if they have children or not, if they are a smoker or a drinks, and so on.
4. Again, if you give POF access to your device location, they can show you who is nearby to you
5. My Matches- This shows who POF thinks you match up well together. There are other options like your "Ultra Match" that also shows a lost of people and the same for "Chemistry Matches".
6. You are able to see the people who looked at your profile and you can also look at the list of the people whose profiles you looked at. 
7. The "Meet Me" part of the site reminds me of Tinder (I'm not on there but I have heard of the left and right object of it). If you're not interested in someone, you swipe left and then if you like someone you swipe right. If there's  a mutual match, then you'll get a notification and it will also be listed under "It's Mutual". 
8. Favorites- You can put people as your favorites and you also can see who listed you as on of  their favorites.

OkCupid:

1. Just like POF's feature "Meet Me", OkCupid has something called "Double Take" which is the same exact thing.You swipe left if you're not interested and right if you are. 
2. "Discovery" is the search part where you can obviously search but there are some options you can't look for unless you're a paid member. You can also see people who you have shared interests with and your top matches. There are additional things on "Discovery" as well that you can check out.
3. Under "Likes" you can see who you liked and if they liked you back. If you're not on the A-List, you unfortunately can't see who liked you.
4. Conversations is your messages

The first one I was on a few years ago was OkCupid with the recommendation of one of my brothers.Then a friend of mine told me to try Plenty of Fish. I've found a few relationships through both of the sites. I personally like Plenty of Fish better because there are more things to do. But if you like another dating site better, that's totally fine because we can't always have the same favorites of this world would be boring.

Amazing Blind Date

Hey guys,

The weekend of November 3rd was a weekend that has been stuck in my head with good memories of course, and that weekend is when I met the guy who I have been chatting and texting with from POF. 

Thursday, November 2nd I was really really nervous because I was thinking what if he doesn't like me and things are going to be awkward between us and I have to spend Friday evening to Sunday with him. I was rushing around trying to get myself prepared and packed so I wouldn't forget anything. That took me awhile because I kept getting distracted by playing Bingo on Facebook Messenger. Thank you to the person that got me addicted to that (they know who they are). 

Friday came and I could not fall asleep the night before due to nerves so I don't think I fell asleep until around 3:30ish in the morning. I had my alarm set for 9am but didn't get up until 9:30am because obviously I was tired since I had trouble falling asleep. Later in the afternoon, his sister came and picked me up. The week leading up to it, I was nervous that it would be a quiet car ride because of how quiet I can get when meeting new people but we chatted pretty much the whole car ride (1 hour). As we got closer to their house, I started to become really nervous because every girl wants their crush to like them back. We went in the house and we pretty much just looked at one another as we both could tell that the other one was nervous as well. He handed me a vase of pink roses, which are my favorite color and flower. We hugged and I met their adorable dog who loved getting petted by me (he loved me).

We (him, his sister and I) then just walked around Downtown Benton Harbor while we waited for their aunt to get home from work. They played Pokemon Go so I tagged along when they tried to catch one. Then they took me to a casino out there and that was the first time I have ever stepped in a casino. They played a few games and then we grabbed some pizzas and headed over to their grandma and aunt's house.

I again became really nervous to meet their grandma and aunt because I wanted them to like me because I liked their grandson and nephew and I also wanted to make a good first impression.  We walked in and I met them and I could tell that they liked me. We ate pizza and just chatted. Then his aunt asked me if I was ready to meet the dogs, all 6 of them. She let them in and they all pretty much ran to him and his sister and then they realized that there was a new person. They all loved me. They are all so adorable and cuddly (if you can't tell I am a dog person). Besides dogs, they also have 5 cats which pretty much all loved me as well. What can I say I'm a lovable person.  Later on, we were hanging and chatting with his grandma and aunt, and then we went upstairs where we chatted and watched TV, and then we went to bed. 

Saturday, we both slept in because I don't think we slept the greatest the night before and then we had a long day the day before. We hung out until his sister came and we all (his grandma, his aunt, his sister, him and myself) went to another casino near them. That was a fun car ride. We got there, went to the buffet for dinner and then the casino. I had money from my mom to play for her and his aunt was nice enough to give us each money. We all spread out but me and him were together because that casino was huge and I wasn't about to get lost. I ended up with $15 and my mom ended up with $2, so I didn't lose but then I didn't do that awesome either. I walked past someone at a machine and they won $600, and was like why couldn't that be me.  His sister asked if we were done and we said yes, and we headed for the arcade where we played a few games and then their grandma came in because she was done at the casino. I went up to them because they were at the prize counter where they were getting sloths, and the guy behind the counter asked if that was for me when I was walking up. Not sure how he knew I was with them, maybe he saw us walking in together. His sister was nice enough to give me that sloth and got another one. At the end of the night we ended up with like 6 or 7 sloths. Here's mine:

We then left and they went to take pictures with all of the sloths while I sat in the warm car with their grandma. We drove back to the house and his sister went home, and we stayed up a little bit talking to his grandma and aunt again before heading off to bed. 

Sunday morning we woke up and I got all packed because I was going home that day. As we were waiting to leave, his stepdad stopped by and I met him. He's really nice.  On the drive back to my place, we stopped at McDonald's for lunch. The GPS kept making us make U-turns and making us go in circles but we finally made it to my house. He walked me in and gave me a hug and a kiss. 

We continued texting and on Monday , November 6th, I asked him to be my boyfriend and he said yes. Fun fact: We started texting on October 19th and to this specific time we have a total of 7,137 text messages between us. We are planning on seeing each other the end of December to exchange Christmas gifts and also spend my birthday weekend together. Only 43 days if everything goes as planned. I was really nervous when we were planning to meet for the first time and I can't wait to see him and his family again. They are all so nice.

Online Dating

Hey guys,

The topic of online dating is a very controversial to some people. For me, the way that I was introduced to the topic of online dating was one day one of my brothers was like "Why don't you try online dating?" I was like "Why not?"  I remember being on the site since like 6 in the morning sending messages, responding to messages and blocking people. I don't remember exactly how long, I met the first guy (my first boyfriend). We were together for I want to say less then 2 months and then he tried to pull something which I didn't want at that time, and he ended things through a text. He told his family this fake story and then I told them the real story and all they did was make excuses for him. 

The next guy I was with was because of a mutual friend and we were together for almost 3 year (actually engaged) but then he suddenly said that his feelings changed and ended the relationship. I then started talking to a guy on Facebook that I used to talk to on the dating site and we were together almost 2 months until I decided to end things. He was adding girls on Facebook that looked like porn stars and in the end I realized that all he was after was sex. I told him how I was feeling but he didn't care.

The next boyfriend that I had things ended the best. We ere together for about 2 months when we mutually ended things. Mutual breakups are the best way to go if that is possible. We both knew that we would be better off just as friends. So, my next ex was a jerk (actually all of my exes have been jerks except for one). We were together for not even 2 weeks and then I noticed on Facebook that he changed my nickname,so I asked him and he said something like "I need to work on me. You wouldn't understand".

My last ex was a major jerkface (that is me being polite as possible). I moved in with him very quickly on but we had some personal circumstances at the time. December would have been our 4 month, but he decided to make this fake story up about how he got a new job like 8 hours away and they wanted to see how everything went before I moved as well. So, one day, I moved back in with my mom, and since that night I have never talked to hi again. He ditched me at my mom's. I tried texting ,emailing and calling him. He blocked me and my family on Facebook. I found out through a friend that had assess to his Facebook that there were pictures of him with another girl and that he was cheating on me even before I moved back in with my mom. He probably thought "Crap, I need to get rid of Amanda somehow and ditch her somewhere."

I met my boyfriend through one of the online dating sites and I'm really happy. He's really amazing. We actually just had our 1 month together. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us. He ended up breaking up with me though text.

If you're on online dating sites, please be careful as there are some strange people out there. And if you don't feel safe on a date, call/text someone to come get you or leave.
