November 4th, 2016: National Candy Day

If you're like me, you most likely have a sweet tooth as well. Today is National Candy Day, which of course I approve of as I like candy. What is your favorite candy (or candies)?  I would have to say that the following are my favorites,in no particular order:

  • Hershey (the bars and the kisses)
  • Junior Mints
  • Peppermint Patties (which is rare for me as I dislike anything else peppermint)
  • Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
By my list, you could say that I love my chocolate! I wanted to see which candies were popular and I found this website ( Garfield, L., 2016).that shows the most popular Halloween candy from each state this year. Do you agree with your state?

Alabama — Airheads
Alaska — Snickers
Arizona — Toblerone
Arkansas — Skittles
California — Lifesavers
Colorado — Milky Way
Connecticut — Reese's Peanut Butter Cups
Delaware — 3 Musketeers

Utah — Nerds
Vermont — Almond Joy
Virginia — Reese's Pieces
Washington — AirHeads
Washington, DC — Twix
West Virginia — Oreos
Wisconsin — Laffy Taffy
Wyoming — Candy Corn

There are a few things that I noticed after looking at the list is:
  1. Why is Washington, DC mentioned? I counted them to see if I had all 50 states and I was confused. I went down the list, thinking I wrote one down twice but nope.
  2. Candy corn is more popular than I thought. I like candy corn but I know a lot of people dislike it so I was surprised at how may states like it.
  3. West Virginia- Oreo's are not candy, they are cookies.
